Victron Energy LFP is an innovative line of lithium iron phosphate batteries developed and produced by the Dutch company Victron Energy.
LiFePO4 batteries are the safest type of lithium-ion battery. The nominal cell voltage of an LFP battery is 3.2V, while AGM VRLA batteries only have 2V. The high nominal voltage characteristic of LFP cells allows the production of batteries with a voltage of 12.8V, which use only 4 cells in their structure, while batteries that have a voltage of 25.6V contain 8 cells.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries have technical superiority over AGM, GEL and VRLA battery types. The properties of lithium iron phosphate batteries have the positive characteristic of being in a state of incomplete charge, at the same time as for an AGM battery this is extremely undesirable. Also, one of the advantages of LiFePO4 batteries is a significantly longer service life during cyclic use.
The high energy density in LHF batteries makes it possible save up to 70% installation volume and 70% weight. This is very useful where a small, functional power source is needed. LFP Victron Energy batteries do not have high charge and voltage requirements.
Victron Energy LHF (LiFePO4) batteries have the highest level of safety among a wide range of lithium-ion batteries. A characteristic advantage of Victron Energy batteries over other LIBs is that lithium iron phosphate batteries are not afraid of being discharged to 0 or incompletely discharged.
When not fully charged, LiFePO4-based batteries increase the already long battery life - up to 5000 cycles when charged to 50%.
Also, the positive aspects of the Victron Energy LHF battery include a significantly larger operating temperature range, low internal resistance, high performance and a longer service life: from 2500 to 5000 cycles.
